Halls...

Halls

The wind always blows there.
It is empty most of the time
and a little lonely.
I run through the halls, large
halls, cavernous and square.
The door shuts behind me
with a click and a clunck simultaneously.
Ah, there it is a little brown
piano. I used to play it. Or, thought that
I did.
Eerie, lonely, there should be music here. Where is it?
Just the wind...
People laughing but, where?
There were people performing on
the street, juggling, singing, dancing!
Men who had a way with the
crowds. They come and go...
       on the edges of things.

Lucky's

This is loosely based on a place I used to hang out at in New Orleans called Lucky's. It was a bar with pool tables, red lights if I remember correctly. You could also do your laundry which I thought was great! Once, I was really soaking wet because the rain can come down there like crazy sometimes and a bartender who worked there who could be very nice literally tried to give me the shirt off of his back...

Tales from a really old sketch book...

These are some sketches I did from a national geographic a long time ago...I drew them on the back of my piano music and then had to cut them out and put them on paper because, they came out pretty good. Better then I expected I guess...These are from when I used to drink too much, which I don't do now because I am a mom and I got tired of it.

Meanderings of a Drunken Alien Prince...

On a planet not so far from Meena's home lived a dashing young prince. His name was Kolokola. His skin was dark and his hair fell in equally dark blue black waves. His people were nomadic and he was known though out the land not only for his beauty but, also his strength courage and gentleness. Many young woman dreamed that they might someday be his queen but, he had eyes only for one. Meena of the Anonai Tara Taro tribe on the planet Two Moons.

Ah, Meena,
Her skin glows like the moon from whom she is descended.
Her eyes are like huge green pools.
Still but, who knows what is swimming beneath,
do your thoughts swim like the water folk?
Are they kind, gentle, wise?
So thin, so frail like the grass that grows in the meadow that is her name sake,
It is a wonder she does not sway or simply drift away when the wind blows...

This one happened because I couldn't sleep!

I have to give some credit to my daughter for this one because, she helped me with the names and we worked together a little on the mythology of the planet Two Moons.

A new kind of meditation...

So, the other day I realized I couldn't feel my heart beat. I had a pulse in my neck and my wrists but, when I put my hand on my chest where my heart should be again and again it didn't seem to be there.
Ah, it's true I thought. I did die. I was resurrected but, I'm not really alive...or did I leave it somewhere I can't remember...
I waited about a day not wanting to really know for sure. Finally I realized best just deal with reality whatever that may be.
I got out my stethoscope and listened. At first I couldn't find it. Then there it was on my left side right where it should be first quiet then slightly stronger...

Tales from my sketch book...

Walk
Princess

Dance

Cat and picture of cat
Trick
House

I  have been in kind of a mood lately. Usually I play the piano when I am in a mood because my moody piano playing usually comes out better then my moody drawings. These are some drawings from my sketch book. Some of which I made when I was feeling kind of down. I haven't decided what I want to do with them yet. But, my daughter thought they were pretty good so I thought I might share them with people.

My afternoon at the coffee shop...

I haven't gone to a coffee shop in a long time but, today I spent the afternoon there drawing my tea. I had forgotten how nice it is. I really like the way this one came out so I am posting it everywhere. Still working on lentil sloppy Joe's. I took new photos and wrote down the recipe so, I will be posting it soon. See you later.

Between, Collage with card stock and sharpie marker, contest entry

Every once in a while I feel like I am a spirit which strangely puts me in a good mood. For instance, I was walking home once in the summer and the air seemed to be the same temperature as I was and it was very windy. It really felt like I was either part of the wind or the wind was blowing right through me. I think a bit about spirits and a lot of my drawings look kind of like spirits who are here but not here.
This one is called Between because the woman is a spirit who is existing between places. In my imagination she is a very old soul whose natural state is as a spirit most of the time. She was separated form her friend and so, returned to a favorite and familiar place to wait for them where she has been waiting for a long time.
This drawing is for sale in my shop on etsy and is also an entry for a doodling contest that sharpie is having. Here is the address to the contest if you want to take a look... http://showcase.sharpieuncapped.com/pages/showimage/808949 See you later.

Doodling contest entry...

Hello everyone!  Every week the team I am on on etsy has a doodling contest.  Normally I post them in my shop.  However this weeks assignment is a logo for the team and it is not for sale so I am posting it here.  It is supposed to be an abstract tree and a dip pen with a drawing coming out of it underneath the word doodle.  Thank you for stopping by!  See you later.
